Owner Eric Herbert began building VW engines in the early ’90s for a small crowd in Reno, Nevada. While studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), he sold off-road and street parts for Reno’s local VW parts supplier, Fibercraft Inc.
He later attended The School of Automotive Machinists in Houston TX, where he studied race engine technology with some of the best in the industry. After graduating S.A.M he went to work for John Lingenfelter of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering where he machined and dynoed many street, race, turbo, drag race, and road race engines.
Later moving back to his hometown of Reno in 2000 he began building engines again on his own, the beginning of Herbert Performance Company. HPC is a small volume, specialty machine and fabrication shop that can build a wide variety of engines for many applications; road racing, off-road racing, recreational off-roading, and street cars.
In addition to the engine building and fabrication services, Herbert Performance offers an extensive selection of performance and hard to find engine parts.
